EN590 and EN228 compliance
EN590 and EN228 define the physical and chemical properties all automotive diesel and petrol must meet to be legally sold in the UK, the European Union, Croatia, Iceland, Norway and Switzerland. It is a standard recognised worldwide.
If an additive causes fuel to fall outside that standard, the fuel becomes illegal and its use may negate engine warranties. The internationally renowned Bureau Veritas has certified that fuel containing FORTecX Eco Fuel Conditioner remains fully compliant with EN590 and EN228.
This removes the need for a Letter of No Objection from each engine manufacturer, which is almost impossible to obtain.

Environmental benefits
Combustion of hydrocarbon fuels is a main focal point of man-made pollution. Using the conditioner significantly reduces harmful exhaust pollutants from engines and burners, including COx, NOx, SOx and particulate matter.
The technology has undergone independent tests and long-term experiments in laboratory and practical environments, with SGS Laboratories UK, Socotec Laboratories UK, Unergy Laboratories South Africa, and mobile HGVs at the Millbrook Proving Ground.
Lubricity
Lubricity is increased by over 30%, as verified by Bureau Veritas.
Historically diesel had adequate inherent lubricity. That changed when sulphur oxides were targeted for reduction: removing sulphur at the refinery also removed lubricity. Additives became necessary to restore it.
It is estimated that as much as 30% of the energy in fuel is lost overcoming friction in vehicles, with over 10% being friction in the engine itself. Improving lubricity therefore saves fuel as well as reducing wear.
Diesel bug elimination
Diesel bug is microbial contamination within diesel fuel. When diesel contains free water between 10 and 40 degrees Celsius, bacteria and fungi can grow. The up to 7% biodiesel allowed in most diesel holds and attracts water, worsening the conditions.
Signs include dark fuel, shortened filter life, a stench from the tank, corroded injectors, sludge, more exhaust smoke and reduced economy.
The conditioner obliterates diesel bug by forcing complete emulsification of the free water, removing the habitat it needs to exist.
Antifreeze properties
The conditioner can very significantly reduce the freezing point of diesel, to minus 20 degrees Celsius or lower.
In cold climates it is not unusual for diesel tanks and fuel lines to freeze, and equally not unusual to see drivers lighting fires under their fuel tanks to get going. A practice we do not recommend.
